So Hello, friends. So I want to talk about one of the most difficult questions to ponder as entrepreneur, which is, when should you quit your business? When is the right time. So let's assume that you've been battling, trying to build this business, but you're not getting the results you want. You've been in the trenches for a long time, and you just do not see the outputs that you want, you do not see the results, you're not growing as fast as you'd like, and you're not making as much money as you first anticipated. In other words, you seem to be in this no man's land in which it is very hard to sustain your drive and motivation. So if this is you, here's my perspective on how would I think about the possibility of closing your business if you're not getting the results you want? I've been discussing this for quite a few years with quite a few those entrepreneurs, right. So this is one of those questions that people do not really want to ask, but everybody is pondering at some point in their lives. And my reply has always been around this concept of auto tellers. So something that has autotelic means that it's an end in itself, it is not a means to an end, but an end in itself. It has a purpose. And if you believe that your business is all italic, in other words, you are doing what you're doing, because you truly feel in tune with the business that business is proposal to you, it makes a world of difference. Because let's face it, some people get in business just to make money. And that's totally okay, they do not feel intimately connected with their business, their business just a means to an end, it doesn't matter if they're selling widgets, or they're doing coaching or they have a SASS company. For them. It's all about the money, and they do not feel intimately connected with their business. And that's again, okay, so my answer on whether you should close your business or not depends on whether your relationship with your business is autotelic or not, if you feel your business, it is a part of you. If you proposal to believe it plays a row in your life's purpose, it changes the equation, because if you truly feel that business is sort of static, then let me tell you, it is never a good time to close it because there's no Plan B because there's nothing you'd rather be doing that just building that business. If you truly feel connected to it. It is just a matter of time that you finally break through that you finally find the results you are seeking that you get out of the rut that you may be in it is just a matter of perseverance of pushing as much and as fast and as hard as it is needed in order to get the results you want. So if you feel that it plays a role, your life's purpose, then you shouldn't quit, you should persevere, you should talk to people, you should try new things, you should work harder, you should hire new folks, you should do what you have not been doing in the past, in order to get the results you didn't get yet. But if on the other hand, your business is normal Telecom, it is not an end in itself. It's just a means to an end you are in business just to make money. And that's okay. Then what I normally say is, if you are thinking about closing shop, do not do it unless you have already had three months of consistent, focused execution and you maybe think you've already had that you probably don't, because you're not focused enough, you're not intense enough and you're not pushing yourself and your team hard enough towards as few goals as possible. Chances are if you are the average entrepreneur, you are scattered overwhelm, not clear on what should be the number one goal for the next three months. So before closing shop, set one specific goal, then create milestones and targets and interweave your systems in order to be able to relentlessly execute on that goal. And after three months of relentless focus execution on just one or a few goals, you still don't get the goals you want, then it may be the perfect time to just start a new business, a new business that is also a means to an end which is whatever financial freedom money whatever it is that you're seeking. So before closing your business, if you're thinking about this, first ask yourself the question What role does this business play in your life? Is it autotelic? Is it an end in itself? Are you doing this in business? Because you truly believe it is your life's purpose? If the answer is yes, then my friend, it is never a good time to quit. And it is always a good time to keep pushing, to seek new perspective, to talk to new people, to do new things, to hire new coaches to do whatever it is needed for you to win because your life is at stake.
