Today, I want to discuss what is the Hidden Power that any one of us can harness and leverage to become whoever we want to become. And this is so embedded into our DNA that is foolproof. If you follow our blueprint, you will achieve whatever you set out to achieve, you just need to be conscious and mindful about what it is that you're chasing. And that power is nothing else than feedback loops.
Feedback is the ultimate driver of human evolution. It is the mechanism by which we grow and evolve by which we learn from mistakes, analyze our successes, and design a life that can take us wherever we want to go. If you think about it, evolution is ultimate feedback loop because, as Darwin said, not the strongest species survive, but those that are most adaptable to change that are those that are better at extracting feedback from the environment.
And the problem is that our brain is not very good at understanding feedback loops, they are not intuitively easy to grasp, and therefore most people are oblivious to its powers. So here's an example: think about a kid that in school was very good at sports, chances are that he became very good because at that time, when kids learn so fast, he was probably born early in the years.
So he had 3-6-9 months more accumulated practice that someone who was born in, let's say, March, June or September. If the kid was born on January, the first, he would have this advantage. And since kids learned very fast, he would compound them very quickly. At that age compounding feedback loops, the results in slight advantage in performance that probably took that guy from being good to the best positions within the team, the best position within the team, probably improve the performance would would translate in better plays better plays with transforming in more exposure, and then more exposure would translate and more self confidence.
And over time, the kid that was born early in the year would be the best in the team. And this is a constant, if you look at those players are dropped first in the NBA, or the best players in hockey in the NHL, they tend to be born early in the year. And that's because as slight advantage compounded over a sufficient amount of time will translate into better results.
This is the basis of our model: Results is Performance x by Time. So if your performance is constantly being improved, then your results will be just astonishingly more significant. Now, how can you make this work for you in your daily life? How can you harness the power of feedback: the results you have right now are a result of the performance you had in the past because there's always a delay between what you do right now and what you get between the action and the consequence.
So if you do not like the place where you're finding yourself right now, think about what have you been doing in the past in the last 2-3-4-6 months? What it is that you've been doing that makes you deserve your current condition. If you don't like it, then think about how can you improve your present performance to get better results in the future. That's how you understand feedback.
That's how you implement this hidden force by looking earnestly to your performance. How well are you able to execute on your daily plans? Do you have daily plans? Are you able to focus on them without distraction? Are you able to sustain the high energy that is required to get focused all day long? Do you have a system to be always emotionally in control? You need to look at yourself from a slightly detached perspective and start optimizing each corner of your Self and build or use some sort of dashboard that can give you that look, right.
So the way of becoming better using the power of feedback loops is by looking at yourself objectively from an external perspective. And gather selected KPIs, selected the data points that can illuminate your performance. We use two data points in order to make it as simple as possible.
But you can really use as many as you want. What we use is one Focus, and the other one is Leverage. So how many hours have I worked in high leverage tasks? And two, how focused have I been during the day, how many hours of pure focus have I had on any given day? Those two KPIs is what I look into every single day, what I teach my team to look into and what we teach our clients, if you look at your performance through this lens, you will naturally start optimizing and harnessing the power of this hidden power of feedback loops to become increasingly better. So as a recap, feedback loops are embedded in the fabric of the universe, it is what we use consciously or unconsciously, to become better.
So you better learn how to make them work for you as fast and as good as possible. And my recommendation and this, this is what we teach is that you look at yourself from an external perspective, and start tracking the KPIs that are most meaningful for you.
If you are entrepreneur, I believe the best thing you can do in order to not get overwhelmed is to look at how many hours do you focus per day? And how leveraged are the tasks that you're working every day, these two variables hold the key to exponential growth. This is what we teach. This is what we have proven, and I highly recommend you implement this.
But this says for everything if you're trying to become a millionaire, well then check your bank account, what are the what are the inputs that you are putting into the system to increase that bank account? What if you're willing to lose weight? Well, what are the foods that you're eating and the exercise that you're doing? And what's the consequence of these habits? This is how it works. It is simple, yet insanely effective.
You need to look at yourself and look at everything you do as a system. And a system can be optimized using feedback. This is very powerful. Don't sit on this tip. And please let me know in the comments if you have already a system of implementing feedback if you have some sort of dashboard that you use to use this power and overall, how well are you transforming yourself into the person you want to become?
