There are five ideas that holds the key to a high-performance life.
Hello everyone, Leon Castillo here. Today I want to break down what are the five key ideas that need to be front and center in your mind every day so that your evolution and transformation into a high-performance entrepreneur is inevitable. Pay close attention, because the #5 is the one that nobody pays attention to, but really drives the most results.
#1: Growth has to be the priority. For a top performer Growth is like oxygen for the average individual - never thought of when present but the only thing in mind when absent. So you need to prioritize growth, you need to embrace the sacrifice that implies pursuing growth in a core few initiatives that you find meaningful.
Good luck trying to become a top performer if you do not seek to grow at each step of the way, in across all areas that are actually meaningful and relevant for the goal that you are chasing. The only way to get where you want to go is by prioritizing growth across all aspects and facets of the System of You.
And that growth can only be 1% every day, or ideally 4% every day, because that adds up to a lot as time compounds. So the first thing is prioritize growth.
#2 Focus is the tool. You need to commit and embrace deep work. Instead of shallow work, you need to embrace mono tasking. And you do that by serializing your tasks and processes, devoting your full attention to choose one thing at each step of the way. And never engage in distractions.
Architect your environment, your life and your work so that nobody can distract you. Nobody can send you an email or ping you on WhatsApp or all those things that people normally suffer from that get you out of focus, because focus is actually what is meaningful is what will allow you to get exponential returns by with time, and attention invested.
#3 Urgency is the lever. You need to be speedy, fast a fast decision and implement new protocols and initiatives faster than others. Because the faster you can operate in your life, the easier it's going to be for you to iterate and become better over time. You need to embrace the Day One mentality in Jeff Bezos terminology. Always be working against the clock to harness the power of your brain. Because if you work with a sense of urgency, normally you get more done, but you also focus more naturally.
¡And when you compress cycle times, guess what? You start seeing things that you didn't see before, because you're forcing yourself to get to the same destination at a fraction of the time that it takes others. So work and harness and embody a sense of urgency.
#4 Protocols are the vehicle, the goal is to live your best life on autopilot. And you do that by harnessing the power of your Basal Ganglia, which is the oldest part of the brain that automates your habits and patterns and protocols. The goal is to leave a high performance life without needing to think about it. Because if you need to think every decision and every habit and everything anew every time you engage in it, peak performance will be a burden and not a blessing.
So the goal is to learn how to refine all those protocols and helped them become automatic in your mind. And you can do that by devising clean behavioral protocols that work for you, but also the power of technological tools that can help you automate and delegate those things that you don't like to do. Protocols are the vehicles: the more refined your protocols and the more automatic your optimal defaults are, the easier is going to be for you to become a top performer. #5 Finally number five, this is my favorite because as I call it, this is the Hidden Force Feedback is the driver - you need to be at iterating your product goals until perfection.
You need to be gathering data across all areas of the system. Have you tracking your lead and lag indicators, to course-correct effectively. That's how you become exponentially better in record time. You do this by constantly reflecting on your performance by setting an experiment about the task or project or activity that you're going to do, and then test it to see how your performance relates to your initial idea.
A good example of this will be: in my case, the other day, I run a sub45 10k Run for the first time in my life. And I did that because I hypothesized the possibility of running a 10k run < 45 minutes. And then I created all the necessary systems in terms of dieting in terms of prior training, in terms of strength training, to make sure that I had a chance... and I got it. And this is just one small idea that can lead you to wherever you want to go. #5 Feedback is the idea that will take you to that next level.
So as a recap, #1 Growth must be the priority at all times, then #2 Focus is the tool that will allow you to get exponential return by time and capital and attention invested to any task, then #3 Urgency is the lever, you need to harness the power of urgency to help you focus and perform at an elite level.
Then #4 Protocols are the vehicle you need to design clean protocols that allow you to be your best self, mostly on autopilot. And #5 Feedback is the driver he who gets the most feedback out of each task and project and action initiative that it's involved in, is able to iterate and become better at a much faster rate and ends up winning.
If you want a proven system to precisely prioritize growth, harness the power of urgency to focus, create protocols so that your high performance is automatic, and give you the tools so that you can collect feedback across all aspects of the System of You, then apply to serve as a Performance Accelerator because that's exactly what we do with entrepreneurs and professionals that we help predictably and reliably get to that next level.
